However, it has up to now presented some limits of breathability and lightness, a strong point of expanded foams. To solve these limitations, we have begun to perforate the thermoplastic gel, guaranteeing greater ventilation and, by subtracting material, less weight. But today we have developed a thermoplastic gel which, with the same size, is 40% lighter and 60% more flexible. Thanks to a study of three-dimensional geometries, we have created a “tower” thermoplastic gel which allows a continuous recirculation of air inside the pad. This structure includes larger towers in the center of the ellipse, the point of greatest support for the bones ischial, and towers degrading as you get closer to the edges. The intermediate spaces between the different towers, which have a thickness of less than a millimeter, allow air circulation even when the gel is subjected to pressure. This generates, through the “pump” effect that develops thanks to the principles of expansion \/ compression the forced expulsion of perspiration vapors, also guaranteed by the holes present between one tower and another, generating an important ventilation of the iliac areas. The tower structure (5 mm thick) interspaced by a layer of gel less than 1 mm allows the gel to bend in all directions, making it fully anatomical and flexible following movements perfectly and adapting to the physicality of the cyclist who wears it.<\/p>\n
By building our pads with Tower Gel instead of the classic Gel, we have obtained the following results:
\n– overall decrease in the weight of the pad by 15%
\n– head flexibility increased by 25%
\n– Expulsion of vapors and air recirculation increased by 45% in the point where
\nthe gel is positioned.<\/p>\n
